In 2010, Smart Systems Technology & Commercialization Center (STC) was created through a merger of New York State's Center of Excellence, the Infotonics Technology Center (ITC) in Canandaigua, with The Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly). This allowed for a natural alignment of STC with CNSE's NYS Center of Excellence in Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology.
